The root bark of Sassafras is used to thin the blood, to cleanse the liver, and is used to treat painful menstruation and the pains after childbirth.

This herb is questionable as to its safety. Since there are other herbs that do the same things it is recommended that sassafras not be used for medicinal purposes.
