The plant is used for treating high blood pressure, gout, PMS, rheumatism, and ending diarrhea, scurvy, liver and prostate problems. France's official bulletin on herbal medicines notes that it is traditionally used for the treatment of mild acne and eczema. German health authorities allow root preparations of stinging nettle to be used for symptomatic relief of urinary difficulties associated with early stages of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), although they don't decrease enlargement of the prostate. A root preparation increases urinary output and decreases the urge to urinate at night. Use the infusion as a hair rinse to treat dandruff and to stimulate hair growth. Nettle Leaf tea is a true energy drink that will bring luster to your hair, nails and skin as it stimulates blood circulation. The juice has a distinctly diuretic effect in patients with heart disorders or chronic venous insufficiency. In Germany, the herb is used for supportive treatment of rheumatic complaints and kidney infections. The seed being drank, is a remedy against the stinging of poisonous creatures, and the poisonous qualities of Hemlock, Henbane, Nightshade, Mandrake. For insect bites, rub the places stung or bitten with bruised Nettle leaves and a little salt. The seed or leaves bruised, and put into the nostrils, stops bleeding. It is a very high source of digestible iron, vitamin C, minerals, vitamins and plant proteins.
